SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture is looking for talented researchers
SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture Ltd is a research institute in the SINTEF group. Our 120 employees cover a wide range of academic backgrounds, and apply their knowledge to the sustainable use of marine resources. The institute finds solutions to challenges along the entire marine value chain, from the biological basis for marine production, through aquaculture and capture fisheries technology to processing and distribution. Today the institute has project activities in the region of 150 million NOK, all of which contribute to an increasingly advanced and technology-driven fisheries and aquaculture industry.
The successful candidates will have an interest and ability to work in multidisciplinary development projects involving close contact with industry. This implies that the candidates are active in identifying challenges and development opportunities, and are able to solve these in cooperation with researchers from a variety of backgrounds, as well as industrial and other partners. A strong academic background (minimum MSc) and good communication skills are therefore necessary. Prior experience of multidisciplinary work, as well as experience from the marine industry is advantageous.
Researchers/ Senior Researchers in automation
The marine industry is in need of improving the use of instrumentation technology, and of developing new automation and monitoring technologies. This applies to both large-scale aquaculture of salmon and other marine species. There are a number of exciting challenges within this field for those wishing to contribute to a more efficient, economical and sustainable marine industry.
Possible application areas include:
● Control systems and embedded systems for marine environments.
● Development of measurement systems for biological organisms and processes, including the use of computer vision.
● Sensors and signal processing for environmental and equipment monitoring in aquaculture
● Signal processing, control and automation related to underwater vehicles, including ROV and AUV.
The preferred candidate has a background related to control engineering, cybernetics, embedded systems, electronics, measurement systems, computer vision and programming, and has the interest and capacity to contribute to developing industrial concepts and realize these in solutions, prototypes and products.

Kynning á tækifærum og styrkjum í Evrópusamstarfi
Kynning á tækifærum og styrkjum í evrópsku og norrænu samstarfi verður haldin á Háskólatorgi fimmtudaginn 12. janúar 2010 kl. 15-17.30. Þar gefst færi á að hitta fulltrúa evrópskra samstarfsáætlana og þjónustuskrifstofa á Íslandi og kynna sér möguleika á styrkjum og samstarfi á öllum sviðum menntamála, rannsókna, vísinda, nýsköpunar, menningar og atvinnulífs. Einnig verða kynntar nokkrar norrænar áætlanir.

Starfakynning í Ráðhúsi Reykjavíkur 14. og 15. október
Vinnumálastofnun og EURES standa fyrir starfakynningu í Ráðhúsi Reykjavíkur föstudaginn 14. október kl. 17:00 – 20:00 og laugardaginn 15. október kl. 12:00 – 18:00. Á kynningunni verða kynnt laus störf og veittar upplýsingar um starfs- og búsetuskilyrði víða í Evrópu. Einnig gefst fólki færi á að ræða beint og milliliðalaust við evrópska atvinnurekendur.
