Sjálfbođaliđar óskast/Volunteers needed
The Development Instructor programme is a unique chance for people from the rich part of the world to dedicate 6 months of their life to a practical contribution to the fight against poverty and diseases in the most unfortunate areas of the world. School Centre in Tvind works together with the NGO HUMANA People to People that runs around 200 development projects in Southern Africa, India, China and Central America, reaching a total of around 5 million people. At the moment we need volunteers to work in Malawi and Mozambique.
The following projects are:
Teacher training colleges - focusing on educating teachers for rural areas.
Vocational schools for young people.
Schools for street children.
Sanitation and hygiene in rural areas.
Raising funds for the social projects by forming partnerships and selling second hand clothes and shoes.
Stopping the spread of HIV / AIDS with the HOPE programme or TCE (Total Control of the Epidemic).
The program is 14 months of which 6 months are training in Denmark for your project in Africa.
6 months in a project in Africa.
2 months of Evaluation and information period in Europe.
Development Instructors are all sorts of people - from many countries, young and not so young, from all walks of life, experienced and inexperienced ...... And still, they have a lot in common. They all have big hearts and a willingness to do something about the most basic contradiction in today's world: the extreme poverty that far too many people live in.
Anyone can become a Development Instructor as long as you are prepared to commit yourself to the programme and the framework around it. Anyone has a contribution to make.
Teams are starting every 6 months. Next starts 1.8.2009
