The labour market in May 2010

Unemployment 8,3% in May 2010
The unemployment in May 2010 was 8,3% or 13.875 in average that is down from 9% in April 2010 and 794 fewer unemployed than in April 2010 and 720 fewer than in May 2009 (8,7%).

Unemployment by gender
Unemployment was 8,8% by men in May 2010 or down from 9,8% in April 2010 and down from 9,7% in May 2009. Unemployment was 7,7% by women in May 2010 or down from 8,1% in April 2010 but up from 7,4% in May 2009.

Unemployment by age
There were 2.735 unemployed young (16-24 years) in May 2010 which is down from 3.024 in April 2010 and down from 3.734 in May 2009.

Long-term unemployed
There were 8.723 unemployed over 6 months in May 2010 or down with 194 from April. Those without a job over 1 year were 4.620 in May 2010 or down from 4.662 in April 2010.

Open vacancies
There were 423 open vacancies within the employment service which is up from 256 in April 2010.

Granted work permits
There were 34 new work permits issued in May 2010 or up from 23 in April 2010.

The unemployment forecast for June 2010
It is expected that the unemployment will decline in June 2010 and be between 7,7% and 8,1% in June.
