Unemployment by gender
There were 9.233 men (9,7%) unemployed in May 2009 or 368 down from April 2009. The unemployment of women was 5.362, (7,4%) in May or up with 149 from April 2009.
Unemployment by age
There were 3.734 young (16-24 years) unemployed in May 2009, or up from 3.588 in April 2009. The unemployment of young people was about 23% of all unemployed in May 2009.
Long term unemployed
There were 4.836 long - term unemployed in May (over 6 months unemployed), or up from 3.269 in April 2009 which is about 30% of all unemployed in May 2009.
The number of open vacancies were 943 in May or up with 256 from April 2009.
Granted work permits
There were 14 new temporary work permits issued in May 2009. From 1. May 2009 employers are not obliged to register employees from the EU-8 countries at the Directorate of Labour.
The unemployment forecast for June 2009
It is predicted that the unemployment will decrease in June due to seasonal conditions and be between 7,9%-8,4%.
