The labour market in June 2009

Registered unemployment in June 2009 was 8,1%, down from 8,7% in May 2009. In average 14.091 were unemployed in June 2009 or 504 down from May 2009.

Unemployment by gender
There were 8.484 men (8,6%) unemployed in June 2009 or 749 down from May 2009 (9,7%). The unemployment of women was 5.607 (7,4%) or up with 245 from May 2009 ((7,4%).

Unemployment by age
There were 3.526 (16-24 years) unemployed in June 2009 or down from 3.734 in May 2009. The unemployment of young people was about 23% of all unemployed in June 2009.

Long term unemployed
There were 5.624 long term unemployed in June or up from 4.836 in May 2009, which is about 36% of all unemployed in June 2009.

Open vacancies
The number of open vacancies was 1.101 in June 2009 or up with 158 from May 2009, many of these jobs are short term jobs (lab.market measures).

Granted work permits
There were 14 new temporary work permits issued in June 2009. From 1. May 2009, employers are not obliged to register employees from the EU-8 countries at the Directorate of Labour.

The unemployment forecast for July 2009
It is predicted that the unemployment will not change radical in July 2009 and be between 8%-8,5%.
