The labour market in July 2009

The unemployment in July 2009 was 8% or down from 8,1% in June 2009. There were 13.756 unemployed in the month or down with 335 from June 2009.

Unemployment by gender

There were 8.028 men without job in July 2009 or down with 456 from June 2009. The unemployment of men was 8,2% in July 2009 but 8,6% in June 2009. The unemployment by women increased however in July 2009 by 121 and was 7,6% in July but 7,4% in June 2009.

Unemployment by age
There were 2.934 16-24 years without job in July 2009 or down from 3.526 in June 2009. This is about 19% of all unemployed.

Long-term unemployed
There were 7.184 without job for a period over 6 months in July 2009 or about 47% of all unemployed but 36% (5.624) of all unemployed in June 2009.

Open vacancies
The number of open vacancies were 1.005 in July 2009 or down from 1.101 in June 2009.

Granted work permits
There were 35 new work permits issued in July 2009 or up from 14 in June 2009.

The unemployment forecast for August 2009
It is predicted that the unemployment will decrease in August 2009 and be between 7,6%-8,1% in August 2009.
