EURES mobility conferenc, Hotel Saga, June 22nd
EURES in Iceland will host a conference where trade unions, employer's organizations, labour market authorities and other concerned parties are brought together to address the increased East - West mobility after the EU enlargement. What are the consequences for the Icelandic labour market and how have we managed to adjust our control and enforcement authorities to this new situation? The issue of EU membership, the adoption of Euro and possible effects on the Icelandic economy and labour market will also be addressed.
For comparison and insights into the labour market situation after the enlargement elsewhere in Europe, we have invited experts from our neighbouring countries. Research Director from the Norwegian Research Institute FAFO will report on the main trends on mobility in the Baltic Sea area, and the effects on the Nordic labour markets. Experts in mobility issues from Ireland, Latvia, Norway and the UK, that are all experiencing large scale labour migration, will attend and share with us their experiences.
The object of the conference is to raise the awareness on this issue on all sides and reinforce cooperation between all concerned parties.
